The 'I' in RPKI Does Not Stand for Identity
RFC 9255, “The 'I' in RPKI Does Not Stand for Identity”, is a Proposed Standard document published in June 2022 by R. Bush, R. Housley. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
There is a false notion that Internet Number Resources (INRs) in the RPKI can be associated with the real-world identity of the 'holder' of an INR. This document specifies that RPKI does not associate to the INR holder.
What “Proposed Standard” means
An entry-level standards-track specification: stable, peer-reviewed and a solid basis for implementation, though it may still evolve before becoming an Internet Standard.
