RESTCONF Protocol
RFC 8040, “RESTCONF Protocol”, is a Proposed Standard document published in January 2017 by A. Bierman, M. Bjorklund, K. Watsen. It has since been updated by RFC 8527. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
This document describes an HTTP-based protocol that provides a programmatic interface for accessing data defined in YANG, using the datastore concepts defined in the Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF).
What “Proposed Standard” means
An entry-level standards-track specification: stable, peer-reviewed and a solid basis for implementation, though it may still evolve before becoming an Internet Standard.
