RFC 7845, “Ogg Encapsulation for the Opus Audio Codec”, is a Proposed Standard document published in April 2016 by T. Terriberry, R. Lee, R. Giles. It updates RFC 5334. It has since been updated by RFC 8486. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
This document defines the Ogg encapsulation for the Opus interactive speech and audio codec. This allows data encoded in the Opus format to be stored in an Ogg logical bitstream.

An entry-level standards-track specification: stable, peer-reviewed and a solid basis for implementation, though it may still evolve before becoming an Internet Standard.
