Web Linking
RFC 5988, “Web Linking”, is a Proposed Standard document published in October 2010 by M. Nottingham. It updates RFC 4287. It has been obsoleted by RFC 8288 — refer to the newer document for the authoritative version. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
This document specifies relation types for Web links, and defines a registry for them. It also defines the use of such links in HTTP headers with the Link header field. [STANDARDS-TRACK]

An entry-level standards-track specification: stable, peer-reviewed and a solid basis for implementation, though it may still evolve before becoming an Internet Standard.
