RFC 3777, “IAB and IESG Selection, Confirmation, and Recall Process: Operation of the Nominating and Recall Committees”, is a Best Current Practice document published in June 2004 by J. Galvin. It obsoletes RFC 2727. It has since been updated by RFC 5078, RFC 5633, RFC 5680, RFC 6859. It has been obsoleted by RFC 7437 — refer to the newer document for the authoritative version. Abstract
The process by which the members of the IAB and IESG are selected, confirmed, and recalled is specified. This document is a self-consistent, organized compilation of the process as it was known at the time of publication. This document specifies an Internet Best Current Practices for the Internet Community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements.
