RFC 3265, “Session Initiation Protocol -Specific Event Notification”, is a Proposed Standard document published in July 2002 by A. B. Roach. It updates RFC 3261. It obsoletes RFC 2543. It has since been updated by RFC 5367, RFC 5727, RFC 6446. It has been obsoleted by RFC 6665 — refer to the newer document for the authoritative version. Abstract
This document describes an extension to the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). The purpose of this extension is to provide an extensible framework by which SIP nodes can request notification from remote nodes indicating that certain events have occurred. [STANDARDS-TRACK]
