Assigned Numbers
RFC 1700, “Assigned Numbers”, is a Historic document published in October 1994 by J. Reynolds, J. Postel. It obsoletes RFC 1340. It has been obsoleted by RFC 3232 — refer to the newer document for the authoritative version. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
This RFC is a snapshot of the ongoing process of the assignment of protocol parameters for the Internet protocol suite. To make the current information readily available the assignments are kept up-to- date in a set of online text files. This memo is a status report on the parameters (i.e., numbers and keywords) used in protocols in the Internet community.
What “Historic” means
A specification that has been superseded or is otherwise no longer recommended for use.
