RFC 1497, “BOOTP Vendor Information Extensions”, is a Draft Standard document published in August 1993 by J. Reynolds. It updates RFC 951. It obsoletes RFC 1048, RFC 1084, RFC 1395. It has been obsoleted by RFC 1533 — refer to the newer document for the authoritative version. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
This RFC is a slight revision and extension of RFC-1048 by Philip Prindeville, who should be credited with the original work in this memo. This memo is a status report on the vendor information extensions used in the Bootstrap Protocol (BOOTP).
What “Draft Standard” means
A historical maturity level (retired in 2011) that sat between Proposed Standard and Internet Standard and required multiple interoperable implementations.
