Proton Mail

Proton Mail is a Swiss encrypted email service founded in 2013 by scientists who met at CERN. It has grown from a privacy-focused email provider into a full suite of encrypted services including Proton Drive, Proton Calendar, Proton VPN, and Proton Pass.

All data is end-to-end encrypted and stored in servers located in Switzerland, which has some of the strongest privacy laws in the world. Proton cannot read your emails even if compelled by a court order because they do not hold the encryption keys.

The service offers custom domain support for businesses, making it a viable alternative to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for organizations that prioritize privacy. The free tier includes 1 GB of storage and 1 email address, while paid plans unlock custom domains, aliases, and more storage.
