About Contabo
Their product range focuses on VPS (both SSD and storage-heavy variants), dedicated servers, colocation, object storage, and domain services. A Contabo VPS with 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, and 200 GB NVMe storage starts at just a few euros per month — pricing that consistently undercuts even the cheapest competitors.
While Contabo is unmanaged (you handle server administration), they provide a solid foundation for developers, self-hosters, game server operators, and anyone who needs beefy specs without enterprise pricing. Their data centers span Germany, the US, UK, Australia, Japan, and Singapore.

You get what you pay for — learned that the hard way
We tried Contabo for our startup's staging environment, attracted by the absurdly low prices. A VPS with 8 vCPUs and 30GB RAM for €8/mo sounds too good to be true — because it is.
The raw specs are real, but the underlying hardware is clearly oversold. Disk I/O is inconsistent — sometimes fast, sometimes painfully slow. Network performance varies wildly depending on the time of day.
Support is borderline non-existent. Our server went down on a Friday evening and we didn't get a response until Monday afternoon. No status page updates, no communication.
Setup fees for monthly billing are annoying too. We lasted 3 months before migrating everything to Hetzner. If you need specs for non-critical batch processing, maybe. For anything production? Stay away.
