It serves as a dedicated online namespace for the global fashion retailer Zara. Only Inditex and its authorized affiliates can register domains under .zara. The extension is designed to give the company a secure, controlled space for its digital operations and marketing. IANA delegated .zara to Inditex in October 2015, and the registry backend is operated by Afilias, now part of Identity Digital. The name servers are configured with IPv4 and IPv6 support, and the domain was registered with ICANN's New gTLD Program.
History
Zara's parent company applied for this TLD during ICANN's 2012 new gTLD application round. Delegation followed in 2015.
