This is the Arabic script country code top-level domain for Algeria, written as .الجزائر (al-Jazair). It is managed by CERIST, the Centre de Recherche sur l'Information Scientifique et Technique, based in Algiers. The domain was delegated in February 2011 and provides an Arabic-script namespace for Algerian websites. Registration is open through authorized registrars listed at nic.dz, and the zone uses DNSSEC. It serves the Algerian internet community alongside the traditional .dz Latin-script ccTLD, both run by the same registry.

Algeria pushed for an Arabic script domain to improve internet access for Arabic speakers. After ICANN's IDN ccTLD Fast Track process, IANA delegated .الجزائر in April 2011. It was one of the first Arab world Arabic script domains to go live.
