The domain is managed by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), the same organization that operates .IN. Registration rules follow the policies set by NIXI, which typically require a local presence in India. The domain is intended for Gujarati speaking internet users, giving them a native script web address. IANA delegated .ભારત in February 2011, alongside six other Indian language TLDs. The registry uses the same registration platform as .IN, with WHOIS lookups available through NIXI's servers.
