.sy domain extension

.sy is the country code top level domain for the Syrian Arab Republic, managed by the National Authority for Information Technology Services (NAITS) and the National Agency for Network Services (NANS). Registration is open to entities with a local presence in Syria. There are no broad public restrictions, but registrations are processed through authorized local registrars. The domain has been active since February 1996.

IANA reports show a significant redelegation in January 2011, when the domain was moved from the Syrian Telecommunications Establishment to the National Agency for Network Services (NANS), a unit of NAITS. That change brought the technical and administrative operations under a dedicated state IT authority.
