.sbs
generic
The .sbs domain extension was originally tied to the Special Broadcasting Service Corporation, an Australian public broadcaster. In 2024, control moved to Shortdot SA, a Luxembourg based company that now operates it as a generic top level domain. There are no specific eligibility rules for registration. Anyone can register a .sbs name through accredited registrars. The sponsor, Shortdot SA, also runs other domain extensions including .icu. The domain is technically managed by CentralNic, a well known backend registry operator based in London. .sbs was delegated in October 2015 and saw a change of sponsorship in early 2024.
History
Initially delegated in 2015 to the Special Broadcasting Service which wanted it for its own services. Shortdot SA acquired the domain rights in April 2024, turning it into an unrestricted general purpose TLD.
