.imamat is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) sponsored by the Fondation Aga Khan (Aga Khan Foundation), based in Geneva, Switzerland. The domain is intended to serve the Ismaili Muslim community and the institutions of the Aga Khan Development Network. It provides a dedicated namespace for organizations and initiatives associated with the Ismaili Imamat. Registration restrictions apply: only entities affiliated with the Ismaili community or the Aga Khan Development Network may register names, and registrants must meet eligibility criteria set by the sponsor. The domain was delegated in April 2016, following a new gTLD application round by ICANN. The delegated IANA report dates from 2016. The registry backend technical operations are managed by Afilias.
