.ee
country-code
.ee is the country code top-level domain for Estonia. It is operated by Eesti Interneti Sihtasutus, a foundation based in Tallinn. Registration is open to anyone, but there are restrictions. Local presence is required, meaning registrants must have an Estonian address or a local contact. Some names are reserved and cannot be registered. The domain launched on June 3, 1992. Eesti Interneti Sihtasutus took over management after a redelegation in 2013. The TLD is a key part of Estonia's strong digital identity.
History
The domain was originally delegated in 1992. For many years it was managed by the Estonian National Communications Board. In 2013, IANA approved a redelegation to Eesti Interneti Sihtasutus, a non-profit established to oversee the ccTLD. This change brought the registry under more direct community and industry governance.
Eligibility and restrictions
Registrants must have a local presence in Estonia, such as an address or a local representative. Some reserved names are not available for registration.
