.af domain extension

.af is the country code top level domain (ccTLD) for Afghanistan. It is sponsored and managed by the Ministry of Communications and IT. The domain is open to anyone, but registrations must go through accredited registrars listed on the nic.af website. There are no strict local presence requirements for most second level domains, though some subdomains like .com.af and .org.af serve general purposes while .edu.af is restricted to educational institutions. The TLD was registered with IANA on October 16, 1997. Its administration was redelegated in 2003 to the current operator.
