Chorus Timaru Exchange (TU)

Chorus New Zealand Limited runs the Chorus Timaru Exchange (TU) on Sophia Street in central Timaru. The facility acts as a local interconnection hub for the South Canterbury region. Inside 22 Sophia Street, two separate networks meet, giving tenants a choice of connectivity providers. The exchange space is designed for wholesale access, letting carriers and ISPs collocate their gear. Timaru itself sits on the east coast of the South Island, roughly midway between Christchurch and Dunedin. Chorus maintains this exchange as part of its national wholesale infrastructure program, which supports both legacy copper and fibre backhaul in the area.
