cPanel Transfer Tool

The cPanel Transfer Tool is the built-in account migration system included with every WHM installation. It allows server administrators to move hosting accounts between cPanel servers with all data intact: files, databases, email, DNS zones, SSL certificates, cron jobs, and account settings.

The tool supports several transfer methods. The most common is a direct server-to-server transfer where WHM connects to the source server via SSH or the WHM API, packages the selected accounts, transfers the archives, and restores them on the destination server. This process handles everything from creating the account to restoring files, databases, email spools, and configuration.

For migrations from non-cPanel servers, the Transfer Tool supports importing from Plesk, DirectAdmin, and Ensim through conversion scripts. While these cross-platform migrations are not as seamless as cPanel-to-cPanel transfers, they handle the bulk of the data migration and reduce manual work significantly.

The tool also supports restoring from cPanel backup files (full, incremental, and compressed). This is useful for disaster recovery, importing accounts from archived backups, or migrating from servers that are no longer accessible. The restoration process recreates the account exactly as it was when the backup was taken.

For hosting providers, the Transfer Tool is essential during server consolidation, hardware upgrades, load balancing between servers, and when onboarding customers migrating from other hosts. The queue system allows scheduling multiple transfers to run sequentially during off-peak hours, and detailed logs track the status of each migration.
