Unbeatable dedicated server prices, rough edges everywhere else
I rent two dedicated servers from OVH for game server hosting — a Rise-1 and a Game-1. The hardware value is insane: 64GB RAM, Xeon processors, 500Mbps unmetered bandwidth for under €50/mo.
The servers themselves are rock solid. Performance is excellent and the network is fast across Europe.
The problems are everything around the servers. The control panel is confusing and outdated. The API docs have gaps. Support is painfully slow — my last ticket about a network issue took 3 days for a first response. And the Strasbourg data center fire in 2021 still makes me nervous, even though they've improved redundancy since.
If you're technical enough to not need support, OVH dedicated servers are a steal. Just don't expect hand-holding.
